The Historical First Baptist Church (HFBC) is a organism of regenerate persons, immersed in profession of faith in Christ; united in covenant for worship, instruction, the observance of Christian ordinances, and for such service as the Gospel requires; recognizing and accepting Christ as our supreme Lord and Law Giver, and taking His Word as our only and sufficient rule of faith and practice in all manners of conscience and religion. Since we are saved by faith in Christ and baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we are governed by His law, observing His ordinances and walking in fellowship with Him (Acts 2:41-43; Philemon 3-7).

This church is autonomous and maintains the right to govern its own affairs, independent of any denominational control, recognizing, however, the benefits of cooperation with other churches. This church voluntarily affiliates with the National Baptist Inc., USA and the North Shelby County District Association of Millington and the Memphis District Association.
